CINCINNATI - The 117th Battle for the Victory Bell between the University of Cincinnati and Miami University will take place on Saturday Oct. 6, 2012 at 7 p.m., the schools announced on Thursday.
The annual game, which is the oldest NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision non-conference rivalry, will serve as UC’s 2012 homecoming celebration. It will air on Fox Sports Ohio.
Also known as a travleing trophy, the Victoy Bell is painted black and white and has been a tradition since 1890. The bell has resided in Clifton for the past six years. The Bearcats crushed the Redhawks 27-0 in 2011 in Yager Stadium. However, Miami leads the all-time series 59-50-7.
The first meeting between the two schools, which took place on Dec. 8, 1888 in Oxford, was the first collegiate football game played in the State of Ohio.
The remaining game times for the defending co-Big East champion Bearcats will be announced at a later date.
