CINCINNATI - The Tri-State will be well represented in the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.
The London games, which run from Friday July 27 to Sunday Aug. 12, will feature six athletes with ties to our area.
Below is a list of the Tri-State athletes who hope to win gold:
Soccer:
Heather Mitts of Cincinnati will be appearing in her third Olympics. The St. Ursula grad already has two gold medals.
Swimming:
Nick Thoman will swim the 100 m backstroke. The Mariemont grad also swam for the Arizona Wildcats.
Rowing:
Peter Graves will compete in Men's Quadruple Sculls. He's a 1999 grad of Cincinnati Country Day and will be participated in his first Olympics
Judo:
Kayla Harrison of Middletown will compete in the 78 kg weight class.
Boxing:
Rau'shee Warren of Cincinnati is the first athlete to ever qualify for three US Olympic boxing teams. He'll fight in the 114-pound flyweight division. Has never won a medal at the Olympics, but is considered a prime contender. He went to his first Olympics in 2004 when he was only 17.
Weightlifting:
Holley Mangold, from Centerville in the Dayton area, will compete in the 75kg class.
