CINCINNATI - Fans already knew when and where the annual rivalry between the University of Cincinnati and Xavier Musketeers would take place, just not what time.
The newly-titled Skyline Chili Crosstown Classic will tip off at U.S. Bank Arena on Dec. 19 at 7 p.m., the schools announced Friday. The rivalry game will be broadcast on ESPN2, marking the 15th consecutive year the matchup has been carried by an ESPN network.
The schools decided to move the annual game to a neutral site location for the next two years following the brawl that erupted at the end of the 2011 contest.
“We are very pleased that ESPN has selected the Skyline Chili Crosstown Classic to be shown during prime time,” UC director of athletics Whit Babcock said. “We’re anticipating a tremendous event that will showcase our city, the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center, and our two great schools on a national stage. We’re looking forward to a bright future for this series down on the banks of the Ohio River and we’re thrilled it will be appropriately showcased on ESPN2.”
UC, who was scheduled to host the game in 2012, will serve as the home team.
