The Colerain Cardinals suffocating defense forced five turnovers and scored two touchdowns in their 55-0 shutout of Princeton on Friday night.
Colerain (4-0) burned past Princeton behind 406 rushing yards and four touchdowns on the ground. Six different players recorded more than 25 rushing yards against the Vikings.
Senior linebacker Corey Lozier scored the game’s first points on an 8-yard fumble recovery. On the following Princeton drive, junior defensive back Jalen Christian scored on a 57-yard interception to give the Cardinals a 14-0 lead. Colerain’s vicious defense allowed the Vikings to enter the red zone just three times during the game.
Princeton (0-4) missed a field goal in the second quarter, which was their only scoring opportunity of the night.
Colerain went on to score five more touchdowns after the Vikings’ missed field goal. The Cardinals scored three touchdowns in the fourth quarter.
Senior Jackson Sorn carried the ball a team-high 14 times for 96 yards. Sophomore running back Jordan
Asberry recorded two carries for 83 yards and a touchdown, and senior quarterback Alfred Ramsby tallied 65 yards on the ground.
Ramsby completed eight of his 11 passes for 128 yards and two touchdowns. Junior running back
Detuan Smith led all receivers with 59 yards and a touchdown for the Cardinals. Colerain finished the game with 537 yards of total offense against the Vikings.
Princeton managed just 115 yards on offense against the Cardinals defense. Senior quarterback
William Blevins threw for 13 yards and rushed for 78 yards. Senior running back Demarco Thomas and sophomore Jibril Willingham rushed for a combined 48 yards, four other players were held to negative yardage.
Colerain travels to Sycamore while Princeton gets set to host Oak Hills on Sept. 21.
