Tri-State High School Football N.Ky. Rankings: Week 3

Another week of action in Northern Kentucky high school football led to more things shaping up in our TSF N.Ky. Rankings.

The teams at the top of the pack continue to separate themselves from those at the bottom.

Cooper and Conner both looked impressive in Week 2 wins and have cemented their place in the top half of the poll with Highlands and CovCath.

Simon Kenton has already passed last year’s win total as the Pioneers moved up to the fifth spot followed by Campbell County, newcomers to the poll, at No. 6.

Here are the latest TriStateFootball.com Northern Kentucky Rankings:

1. Highlands (2-0)
How they fared: Coach Dale Mueller and his boys took a bye in Week 2 after back-to-back wins to open 2012.
Looking Ahead: The Bluebirds stay on the road for the second straight game as they visit Louisville Western.

2. CovCath (2-1)
How they fared: Fell to LaSalle 27-11 at Lancers Stadium, but remarkable improvement from last year’s matchup.
Looking Ahead: The Colonels welcome the winless Boone County Rebels to Wooten Field for a Saturday matinee.

3. Cooper (3-0)
How they fared: The Jaguars beat Boone County for the first time in five tries to move to 3-0 for first time ever.
Looking Ahead: Cooper travels to Campbell County in a meeting of defending district champs.

4. Conner (2-0)
How they fared: The high-powered Cougars’ offense lit up the scoreboard in a 67-21 victory over Holy Cross.
Looking Ahead: Conner makes a trip to Dixie Heights to tangle with a young and rebuilding Colonels team.

5. Simon Kenton (3-0)
How they fared: Simon Kenton enjoyed their most decisive victory of the season knocking off Pulaski County 50-7.
Looking Ahead: The Pioneers play host to Holmes in a surprising battle of unbeaten teams.

6. Campbell County (2-1)
How they fared: The Camels knocked NewCath at home for the first time since September 8, 2000 in a 42-16 blowout.
Looking Ahead: Campbell County now faces a red-hot Cooper teams as the Jaguars make their way to Alexandria.

7. Ryle (1-2)
How they fared: Ryle lost at home to Colerain 35-0 in Thursday televised affair.
Looking Ahead: The Raiders take a week off before making a trip north to Columbus to face DeSales.

8. NewCath (1-2)
How they fared: The ‘Breds suffered a big blow as they were knocked around in a 42-16 loss to Campbell County.
Looking Ahead: NewCath gets a much-needed by week after suffering back-to-back losses and to prepare for Simon Kenton.

9. Holmes (2-0)
How they fared: The Bulldogs followed up a win over Scott in their opener by taking down Beechwood on the road.
Looking Ahead: Holmes heads to Independence to face Simon Kenton, another undefeated team.

10. Boone County (0-3)
How they fared: Boone County heads to 0-3 after losing to Cooper for the first-time in school history.
Looking Ahead: The Rebels are set to face off against CovCath Saturday afternoon in Park Hills.
