Boston Sports Fans Are Frauds

Dear Baltimore Sports Fans,

Don’t get mad the next time Camden Yards is run over by Red Sox fans. We learned Sunday during the Ravens-Patriots game is that Boston sports fans are fair-weather friends.

The only thing more embarrassing than the Patriots performance on the field was the fans performance in the stands.

For starters, the team struggled to sellout a playoff game. Jacksonville would have performed better at the gate if the Jaguars got into the playoffs.

Once the game started, the fans didn’t help the team on the field at all. Before the first play of the game, you couldn’t tell who the home team was. And that’s before Ray Rice broke through for an 83-yard touchdown run.

After New England QB Tom Brady fumbled, you would think Patriot fans would be so loud that it would be deafening. I know there’s a little shock, but as a fan, you need to help. You can’t let the Ravens go up two touchdowns.

(Quick side note: Did Brady go from leading the league in completions and touchdowns to leading the league in complaining and teardrops?)

What makes the home-field an advantage is lots of crowd noise when the visitors have the ball. Make it tough for the Ravens to get the play off cleanly.

A situation like this would never happen in Baltimore. If the Patriots were driving and about to go up 14 points, the crowd would be so loud that standing next to a jackhammer would seem like silence.

But New England’s sports fans gave the team nothing.

By the end of the first quarter, Boston fans did their best Philadelphia impersonation, showering the team with boos.

Look, I get it. The team stunk up the joint in the first quarter. But the Patriots gave you 3 Super Bowls. The first quarter of a home playoff game is not the time to turn on them.

Did you think the Patriots would turn it around because you’re booing your lungs out?

So Baltimore fans, let the Boston sports fans have their moment. They can cheer their hearts out in a meaningless May game in a 162-game season. When the chips are down, Boston fans can’t be counted on.
