Defensemen Vincent LoVerde and Chris Wideman recently made the jump from the ECHL to the AHL.
LoVerde signed a pro tryout contract with Manchester on Nov. 9 after registering four goals and two assists in 12 games with Ontario. In his first two games with the Monarchs he registered a plus-1 rating.
Wideman, who was called up on Oct. 26, is an Ottawa Senators draftee and has played four games with Manchester. He dished for four assists in four games and posted a plus-5 rating for Elmira.
Wilkes-Barre goalie Jeff Zatkoff tallied shutouts in two of three starts during a three-game winning streak Nov. 2-7.
Zatkoff made 33 saves in a 3-0 win at Manchester on Nov. 2 and blanked Binghamton on 32 shots in a 1-0 shootout win Nov. 7.
That shootout went eight rounds with Zatkoff denying six shots.
Zatkoff has a 1.19 goals-against average and a .960 save percentage with a 4-1 record in November.
Portland forward Andy Miele recorded the game-tying goal in a 3-1 win at Hershey on Nov. 11.
Miele’s goal came with 6:00 left in the first period, evening the score at one and giving him points in three consecutive games.
ECHL: Evansville forward Trent Vogelhuber scored his first two professional goals in a 5-3 loss vs. Greenville on Nov. 7.
Vogelhuber gave the IceMen a 1-0 lead with an even-strength goal with 8:09 remaining in the first period, and he made it 3-1 at the 13:44 mark of the middle stanza, but Evansville allowed four straight goals late.
Fort Wayne goalie Charlie Effinger recently had a four-game winning streak snapped.
Effinger posted a .941 save percentage over that span, which included a 43-save shutout for Gwinnett – his former team.
CHL: Tulsa forward Gary Steffes scored two goals in a 5-4 loss at Fort Worth on Nov. 9.
Steffes found the net 1:37 into the second period, and he recorded another marker 19 seconds into the final frame.
Europe: Turku defenseman Alec Martinez will undergo surgery this week after taking a shot to the face.
Martinez suffered a fractured cheekbone and is out indefinitely. He is expected to have surgery in Finland.
Linz forward Pat Leahy has racked up points in eight straight games.
Leahy, who scored his 100th career EBEL (Austrian League) goal – all with Linz – has eight goals and eight assists in that stretch, including two game-winning goals (Oct. 19 and Oct. 30).
