CINCINNATI - Even though college basketball doesn't begin for several months, publications are beginning to roll out their preseason rankings.
Five teams from around our region made Sporting News' top 25 list for the 2012-13 season released this week.
The Cincinnati Bearcats, who finished 26-11 and made it to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament, are ranked number 18. The Sporting News says Bearcat shooting guard Sean Kilpatrick as a player who has yet to reach his potential.
Cincinnati lost seniors Yancy Gates and Dion Dixon. Freshman forward Octavius Ellis was recently dismissed from the team following an incident at a downtown nightclub. Still, Mick Cronin is expected to have another talented team.
The number one team in the country, according to the Sporting News is Indiana.
The following teams also made their top 25:
Louisville: Number 3
Ohio State: Number 4
Kentucky: Number 5
