WEST CHESTER, Oh. - The Mason girls softball team is one step closer to claiming a state title.  The Comets survived a  seventh inning rally by Fairfield taking home a 4-3 win.

It was a scoreless battle until the third when Mason was able to plate a run on a bases loaded walk.  Fairfield tied the game at 1-1 in the fifth. In the bottom of the sixth Mason was able to open a 4-1 lead and looked to have things well under control.

However the Indians had other plans.  They were able to score twice and had the tying run on third with two outs when Kelly Browning drove the ball to deep center field where Mason's Sami Parave was able to snag it and save the game for the Comets.

Mason will next play Lebanon Thursday at Northmont High School in Clayton at 5 p.m.
