CINCINNATI - It's an intriguing week of high school football. Here are five of the top games:
Covington Catholic at LaSalle:
The Lancers rolled in this game a year ago 41-10. LaSalle showed a potent offense but lost its opener to Lakota West because of five turnovers. The Colonels of CovCath have outscored their first two opponents 91-0
Winton Woods at Lakota East:
This was a classic in 2011 when Lakota East won 38-37 in overtime. The Thunderhawks already own a victory over Western Hills, while Winton Woods lost to Wayne
Withrow at Anderson:
Neither team has won yet this season. Anderson was trounced by Sycamore in its season opener. The Redskins offense is very young. Withrow lost its opener to Turpin.
Lebanon at Loveland:
Lebanon has won this match in two of the last three seasons. Lebanon Quarterback Luke Morgan was efficient in the Warriors opening week victory over Kings. Loveland's defense was stingy in beating Butler.
Boone County at Cooper:
We'll find out if the Cooper program has grown up in the five years of its existence. Boone County has been dominant in the first four meetings. But the Jaguars have started the season with victories over Ryle and Holy Cross. Cooper's trademark is its defense. So far, defense has been the Rebels downfall in their two losses.
