Wayne (2-1) scored two third quarter touchdowns in a span of 3:37 to pull away from Trotwood-Madison (1-2). Quarterback Javon Harrrison found the end zone from five yards out as the Warriors surged ahead for good, 14-7 just over two minutes after intermission. Wayne forced the Rams to punt on the following drive. That’s when they blocked the kick and Jordan Whitfield picked it up and ran it back 15 yards for a touchdown.
Trotwood-Madison made a game of it late as running back Isreal Green crossed the goal line for the second time mid way through the fourth quarter. Green ended up with a game high 161 yards on the ground. Teammate Demarcus Wilson had his best day as a varsity player with six receptions for 112 yards for the Rams.
Wayne continues to struggle on offense, carrying the ball 37 times in the game and averaging just 3.7 yards per tote. It is the second straight game in which the Warriors were held to und 4.0 yards per carry.
