Frankfort, KY - The Walton-Verona Bearcats have won the Kentucky Touchstone All "A" Classic with a 38-36 overtime victory over Newport Central Catholic.
The championship game was played Sunday afternoon at the Frankfort Civic Center.
Neither team could create much of an advantage. NewCath led 17-14 at halftime, but the Bearcats outscored the Thoroughbreds in both the third and fourth quarters to force the overtime.
Kara Taulbee led the Bearcats with 11 points while Nicole Kiernan had 12 for the 'Breds.
The All-Tournament team included Madison Eisenman and Sarah Futscher of Bishop Brossart, Olivia Huber, Nicole Kiernan and Aubrey Muench of Newport Central Catholic and Kara Taulbee and Janalee Ginn of Walton Verona. Courtney Sandlin of the Bearcats was named the tournament's most valuable player.
