CINCINNATI - The reigning Ohio Division II state champion Trotwood-Madison Rams opened the postseason with a huge statement as they shut out the Mount Healthy Owls in the Owls Nest 48-0 on Friday night.
Trotwood-Madison (9-2) controlled the game from the outset and raced out to a 21-0 first-quarter lead and never looked back. The Rams outgained the Owls in total yards 534 to 89.
Playing without starting quarterback Tyree Elliott, who suffered a season-sending ACL injury a few weeks back, Mount Healthy (9-2) got the ball to start the game and picked up a quick first down. They would only manage to move the chains three more times the rest of the game.

Following an interception by Reon Dawson, Trotwood-Madison got on the scoreboard for the first time when senior running back Israel Green punched one in from three yards out.
After a three-and-out Ashton Jackson took a 70-yard run to the house on the Rams’ very next play.
Mount Healthy would fumble the ball away three plays later and Trotwood’s Cameron Burrows would fall on the ball and the Rams would have it at Mount Healthy’s 33-yard line.
The turnover would lead to a Messia Deweaver-to-Mike McCray 36-yard touchdown. Following yet another three-and-out by the Owls, Green would score again this time from eight yards out to make 28-0 heading into the locker rooms.
The Rams would add three more touchdowns in the third quarter to seal the deal.
Green led the way with 118 yards and three scores on 17 carries. Ashton Jackson added 177 yards and two scores on 12 attempts. Deweaver completed 9-of-19 passes for 155 yards and a two touchdowns.
Trotwood-Madison is set to square off against No. 2 seed Winton Woods next Friday night in the Division II, Region 8 semifinals.
