CINCINNATI - The Simon Kenton Pioneers advanced to the second round of the Class 6A playoffs in Kentucky by coming up with a 29-22 win on the road over the Bryan Station Defenders.

Simon Kenton (8-3) got 140 yards and a pair of touchdowns from running back Andrew Sampson on 34 carries and were able to hold on to pull out the victory.

After starting the season 6-0 the Pioneers dropped three of four games, including two straight to end the regular season. However, they managed to shake off the cobwebs right out of the gate on Friday.

Quarterback Ora Johnson ran for two touchdowns and threw for another score for Bryan Station (6-5) in the loss.

Simon Kenton will travel to top-seeded Campbell County next Friday night. The Camels knocked them off 29-28 in a regular-season thriller on Sept. 28.
