For the fifth time this season, Simon Kenton (5-0) beat a team from a lower Class. The Pioneers remained unbeaten behind a balanced offensive attack that saw the team engineer five scoring drives as they sent NewCath (1-3) reeling to their third straight loss. The Thoroughbreds continue to be one of the area’s biggest enigma’s in 2012. Simon Kenton on the other hand has been a pleasant surprise.

Quarterback, Brennan Kuntz who had a career day with 241 yards and three touchdowns throwing the ball for the Pioneers. The junior hit three different receivers, Jacob Huesman, Lars McIntyre and Andrew Sampson for scores. Sampson also had his second 100 yard rushing day of the season, finishing with 104 yards and a touchdown. Grant Wassom led SK with eight receptions (for 86 yards). Huesman had personal bests of seven receptions and 96 yards.

Simon Kenton starts District play at Ryle (2-2) on Friday night. NewCath will take on Brossart (1-3) at Scott High School on Friday. The Mustangs also enter that tilt on a three game losing steak.
