MILFORD, Ohio -

The Moeller Crusaders continued their march toward a sixth state title by beating Lakota West 11-2 behind senior Brian Burkhart’s seven innings of one earned run baseball. He also added six strikeouts.

Moeller trailed for the first three innings before they dropped three on West in the fourth with a long Spencer Icovone homerun. He was two for three with a run and three RBI’s.

The Firebirds went 1-2-3 in their half of the fifth before Moeller erupted for nine hits and eight runs blowing the game wide open in the bottom of that inning.

Ryan LeFevers led off the hit parade and Ty Amann tripled him home before Jordan Simpson stepped to the plate and hit an absolute missile to deep right for a double scoring another and the route was on. Simpson was one for three with a run scored. Senior Nick Edwards was two for four adding two runs and two RBI’s.

Lakota West finished their season at 18-12 while Moeller is 21-5 and will play the winner of Harrison/Lakota East Saturday May 19 at Western Hills High School.
