CINCINNATI - The regular season came to an end in the Hoosier State on Friday night with the East Central Trojans falling to Roncali, 20-13.
East Central (7-2) got on the scoreboard first with a 1-yard TD run by quarterback Tom Schroer, but a blocked kick on the point-after attempt kept it 6-0. It would foreshadow things to come.
Neither offense could get much going the remainder of the half, but in the third quarter Roncali would finally find the end zone on a 13-yard TD pass from Clements to Smock. Less than two minutes later Roncali scored again on a blocked East Central punt, but they failed the conversion and the score stood at 13-6 entering the final frame.
Payton Stonefield tied the game with a 5-yard in the opening minute of the fourth quarter, but it would be Roncali that would win in overtime on the heels of a 1-yard QB keeper by Smock.
East Central is set to face Columbus East next week as playoff action begins.
