INDIANAPOLIS - The Moeller Crusaders took a trip to Indianapolis Friday night to face Cathedral and brought home a big win, 48-13. This victory comes after last week’s upset against Elder when the Panthers defeated the Crusaders 17-14.
Moeller (6-2, 1-2) scored early and often, with Keith Watkins getting the offense started for the night. He scored two touchdowns on the ground the first quarter giving the Crusaders the lead 14-0. By the end of the game, he totaled 124 yards for three touchdowns, making him the top scorer for Moeller.
Three more Crusaders added to the offense, with Evan Jansen, Joe Eramo, and Jonathan Bucher all finding the end zone in the fourth quarter.
Quarterback Spencer Iacovone was also credited with a touchdown. He connected for an impressive 10 out of 12 attempts for 119 yards on the night. His two interceptions did not threaten the Crusader’s lead.
The Fighting Irish (4-5) struggled offensively, totaling only 217 yards, compared to Moeller’s 439. In the third quarter Stu Stanley did go 55 yards for a touchdown on an interception return. Their only other score came from Samp Levingston after a 15-yard pass from Connor Rice.
The Crusaders get a Friday night off as they return home next week and host St. Edward for Saturday afternoon football.
