Mariemont 36, Indian Hill 14

Mariemont (2-3, 1-1) recovered a fumble kickoff by Indian Hill (0-5, 0-2) on the first play of the game then marched 28 yards for a score to go up 7-0 and they never looked back. The victory by the Warriors ended a run of nine straight losses to the Braves.

Quarterback, Matt Stewart scored the initial touchdown on one-yard run for Mariemont. Stewart had an outstanding evening throwing for 201 yards with three scoring tosses. Two of those touchdowns were on hook ups with receiver, David Cowart. The sophomore would finish the game with a career high nine receptions for 147 yards. Stewart and Cowart weren’t the only Warriors doing damage. Senior Nick Jones had 71 yards rushing, 46receiving and 31 more passing with a 20-yard scoring scamper.

Quarterback Matt Thompson and receiver Shay Bahner connected twice for touchdowns for Indian Hill. Thompson finished the night with 184 yards through the air. Mariemont held the Braves to just 54 yards of total offense in the first half as they built a 22-0 lead heading into intermission.

The Warriors will head to Finneytown nest Friday night. Indian Hill looks for their first win of the year as they host Taylor.
