CINCINNATI - The last time Highlands met Ashland Blazer was in 2008 when Highlands won by a score of 53-6. Friday night history repeated itself as the Bluebirds defeated the Tomcats with another high scoring game 52-13.

Ashland (9-3) beat Holmes last week to advance to the second round of playoffs, but their post season reign slipped away as the second half of play against Highlands (11-1) unfolded. The Tomcats were only down 16-13 going into half time when the Bluebirds took the lead off of a rushing touchdown. The Tomcats were shut out the final two quarters of the game.

Highlands then scored four times in the third quarter, which gave them a lead of 25 points going into the fourth, making the score 38-13. They continued to pound the turf adding 14 more points to total 52 on the night.

Senior quarterback Donovan McCoy accounted for 357 total yards with 225 yards through the air and another 132 on the ground in the win.

The Bluebirds, who are on a three-game winning streak, will move on to face-off against local Covington Catholic.
