Billie Hearn connected on a rim-rattling game-winner as time expired to help Grant County upset Walton-Verona in the KHSAA 32nd District tournament Wednesday night.
“I had faith in my team and Maci Wright, she gave me the pass of a lifetime," said Hearn, who finished with a team-high 20 points, 15 rebounds and four blocked shots. "I laid it in and it went in softly."
Braves coach Shawn West talked about how he stressed execution all week in preparation for the game.
"With 4.9 seconds left I called a timeout," West told Trischoolsports.com. "We were going to run something else and I thought in the back of my mind something else I wanted to do so we called an additional timeout and basically drew up something we hadn't run all year... and by God's grace it went in. It was an exciting moment for the ladies."
