WILLIAMSTOWN, Ky- Coaches always preach about the importance of making the best of scoring opportunities, especially at the free throw line.  Williamstown's Lady Demons took that to the bank Saturday. The team shot 71 percent from the line to get 27 of its 44 points.  That was enough to beat visiting Calvary Christian by five points.

"We take it in really strong," said Demons' senior forward Carlie Fossitt.  "The game gets really close, because we don't finish our lay-ups."

"She brings something different to the floor for us, she's just a tough girl," said Demons' head coach Kasey Kennedy of Fossitt.  "She does all the little things right."

Defensively,  Fossitt pulled down 14 boards, stole the ball six times and added three points from the line.  Teammate junior forward, Alex Prokopachak, led all scoring with 19 points.  She was 13-16 from the free throw line.

Calvary Christian junior guard, McKenzie Rusch, led the Cougars' scoring effort with 13 and junior forward Zania Caudill added 9 points.

According to the Lady Demons head coach, the team accomplished two things for the only time this season: shoot better than 50 percent from the line and win two games in a row.

"We are on a two win streak," Kennedy said with a giggle.  "It was an ugly win, but it was a win."

Williamstown led most of the game, but looked tired towards the middle of the fourth quarter.  This was the teams fourth game since Monday and Friday's game was physically demanding .

"I tried to wake them up at 9:30 this morning.  I don't know how many of them were honest and got up," chuckled  Kennedy.  "We've got a lot of games in a short period of time.  They are just going to have to learn how to play through it."
