INDEPENDENCE, Ky- Newport Central Catholic went on a 12 to four run in the first period to lead at the first break 16-14. That would be the only firm lead of the night for the Thoroughbreds, as the Pioneers offense was relentless.

Sophomore guard, Abby Owings led the Pioneers with 15 points on the night, 10 came in the second half. Teammate, senior guard, Hannah Stephenson scored nine of her 14 points from the perimeter and sophomore guard, Christina Cook, got an even 10 points.

NewCath's, sophomore forward, Nicole Kiernan led all scoring efforts with 22 points. Sixteen came in the  paint in the first half.
