CINCINNATI - As expected both offenses lit up the scoreboard in the Class 5A regional semi-final matchup, but in the end it would be Franklin County that would prevail over Conner, 62-59.
Conner (9-3) would open up a 23-13 first-quarter lead, but it would not hold as the Flyer would storm back with 21 points of their own during the second quarter to take the lead heading to halftime.
The two offenses would combine for 1,098 total yards of offense on the night leading to a thrilling finish. Trailing 48-37 entering the fourth quarter the Cougars Drew Barker would pass for two scores and run for another in the final frame, but it would not be enough as they fell just short.
Barker finished the night with 291 yards and three touchdowns on 16-of-20 passing while rushing for 97 yards and another score. Cameron Fogle had 275 total yards of offense on his own and three touchdowns in the loss.
Mr. Kentucky candidate Ryan Timmon lead the charge for Franklin County (12-0) and finished the night with 189 rushing yards and four touchdowns.
Franklin County advances to the regional finals next Friday night as they welcome Cooper, who knocked off South Oldham on Friday night
