CINCINNATI - The Frankfort Panthers defeated the Bellevue Tigers 26-0 on Friday night and will advance in the Kentucky Class 1A playoffs next week.
Bellevue (7-5) had won their previous four games, but could not top Frankfort’s defense which had allowed just 15.6 points a game during the season. Friday’s game was the Panthers second victory over the Tigers in as many years.
Frankfort (11-1) did a majority of their damage during the first half as they scored seven points during the first quarter with a rushing touchdown and 12 in the second quarter with passing touchdowns, a missed a PAT and had a failed two-point conversion.
The Panthers’ lone score during the second half, and final of the game, was a complete pass from Chris Hawkins to Aaron Jackson for a touchdown. It was the senior wide receiver’s 16th touchdown pass on the season.
Frankfort will face another Tiger team next week in Beechwood, who defeated Paris in a neutral playoff this week 63-16.
