CINCINNATI - The Conner Cougars picked up their third straight win by taking care of the Grant County Braves 42-6 on the road Friday night.
Conner (6-2, 2-1) got three first-half TD runs and a passing touchdown from junior quartrerback Drew Barker as they rolled to a 36-0 halftime, including putting 29 points on the scoreboard during the second quarter of play. Barker finished with 81 yards on 10 carries and added 59 yards through the air in limited action.
Nathan Ball and Preston Hutchinson each added touchdown runs and Brady Padgett pulled in a 3-yard TD reception to account for the rest of the Cougars’ scoring.
Grant County (3-5, 0-3) got its only points of the night late in the game as Michael McLean connected with senior Blake Dills on 44-yard TD strike, but the Braves failed on the two-point conversion leaving the score at 42-6.
Conner stays on the road inside the district next week with a trip to Scott while Grant County heads north to face off against Cooper.
