CINCINNATI - After overcoming the suspension of 15 players and defeating Bracken County 45-8 last week, the Beechwood Tigers will advance to the third round of Kentucky’s Class 1A playoffs after beating the Paris Greyhounds 63-16.
The domination resembled Beechwood’s (8-4) 60-7 victory over Paris during last season’s playoffs. The Tiger’s 63 points marked the second time in four games in which they have scored over 60 points.
Freshman quarter back Kyle Fieger modeled his stellar performance last week, this time connecting for six of eight passes for 163 yards and racking up three total touchdowns for the Tigers.
The senior class did their fair share of contributing as well. Chris Lightner scored two touchdowns for 98 yards while running back Max Nussbaum rushed 94 yards on 15 carries and scored three touchdowns of his own before being lifted in the blowout.
Paris (6-6) was shut out the entire first half. Their only two scores came in the second half, which did little to catch up to the Tiger’s explosive offense.
Beechwood will host the Frankfort Panthers next week, who are coming off a 26-0 victory against the Bellevue Tigers on Friday.
