Just two weeks into the season and Batavia (2-0) has equaled their win total of the previous two campaigns. The Bulldogs beat Mariemont (0-1) behind a stellar running attack that averaged 7.3 yards per carry while racking up 330 yards on the ground in the victory. In fact, the Batavia did not complete a pass on the night.
Senior Zainn Ison led the way with 116 yards on the ground and a touchdown. Ison would finish the night with 206 all-purpose yards. Sophomore quarterback, KeShawn Foley also broke the century mark with 102 yards rushing and a score. Ryan Gormley also found his way across the goal line for the victors.
Mariemont’s lone highlight came in the first half when quarterback Matt Stewart and Nick Jones hooked up on a 39-yard touchdown pass. The Warriors are having a hard time putting points on the board with just 13 in two tilts to start the season.
Batavia looks to go 3-0 as they host Gamble Montessori next Friday. Mariemont looks to regroup versus another SBAAC foe as they head to Shea Stadium to face Norwood (2-0).
