There were plenty of game balls for Badin (2-0) to hand out after they rolled to a 55-22 win in their home opener over Taft (1-1). A 41-point explosion in the second and third quarters was enough to put the Senators away as Badin goes to 2-0 for the first time since 2009.
Michael Davis ran for 104 yards with four short touchdown runs in the victory. Three of those scores came in a 12 minute stint between midway through the third and fourth quarters. Austin Rieman made his normal contributions with 172 all-purpose yards (85 rushing) with a touchdown on the ground and a 48-yard interception return for a score. Nick Browning picked off his third pass of the year and finished the night with 215 all-purpose yards and a receiving touchdown.
Michael Williams ran for 106 yards, threw for 150 more with a touchdown run and pass for Taft. Turnovers did not help the Senators quest for a win as they lost the takeaway battle 3-1.
Badin takes a step up in class as they take it on the road to Division II, Edgewood (2-0). The Cougars are averaging 55 points per contest in 2012. Taft looks to get back in the win column as they host Indian Hill (0-2) Friday night at Stargel Stadium.
