Wildcats allow 15 points in first half

Newport closed out its regular season by dominating Bracken County, 75-36, Saturday night in Newport.

The Wildcats were already ahead by 15 at halftime when they nearly doubled their lead by outscoring the Polar Bears, 29-15, in the third quarter.

Brothers JaSean and JaQuin Short each had eight points in the quarter, as did junior guard Marquis Commodore off the bench.

JaSean Short finished with16 points and seven rebounds while JaQuin Short had 14 and Commodore 10.

The Wildcats will begin district tournament play Tuesday against Newport Central Catholic at Dayton.
