Juniors Courtney Sandlin and Michele Judy nearly reached double-doubles despite limited playing time as Walton-Verona completed its regular season with a 64-25 win Friday night against Campbell County in Verona.

Judy finished with a team-high 13 points and eight rebounds while Sandlin had 10 points and nine rebounds.

Kara Taulbee, one of five seniors who played for the Bearcats, added 10 points on Senior Night.

Walton-Verona will begin defense of last year’s 8th Region championship when it opens up play in the 32nd District tournament Tuesday against Williamstown at Grant County.

BEECHWOOD 58, BELLEVUE 31 – Sophomore guard Emily Pawsat scored 12 of her 14 points before halftime, leading Beechwood to a big win.

Senior center Taylor Brown added 10 points and six rebounds while Cara Schwartz finished with eight points, nine rebounds, two assists and two steals.

The Tigers made 10 of 14 shots from the floor in the second quarter in opening up a 39-21 halftime lead. That included two 3-pointers from Olivia Stokes and another from Pawsat as the Tigers were three-for-four behind the arc in that quarter.

Bellevue was led by junior forward Jennifer Sexton, who scored 12 of her 14 in the first half.
