He likely wishes he had the attempt from the charity stripe back, but Appalachian State center Brian Okam’s free-throw shooting abilities may be put in question after the video of him badly missing his second attempt went viral on the Internet.
Appalachian State was playing against Western Carolina on Saturday, a game in which it lost by six 70-64, but it was Okam’s free-throw attempt that was most talked about.
Clearly, the ball slipped out of his hand, and he really isn’t that bad of a free throw shooter. In fact, he’s a 54 percent shooter from the line for his collegiate career. Granted his career percentage isn't outstanding by any means, but it's not as bad as the video might suggest to a first-time viewer.
And as the video below shows, these things do happen.
