CINCINNATI - The Bengals announced Friday that they have waived young wide receiver Jordan Shipley, who had been plagued by injuries after a promising rookie season.

The Bengals also waived kicker Thomas Weber.

Shipley, 26, a third-year NFL player from Texas, had been with the Bengals since being drafted in the third round in 2010.

After a promising rookie season, Shipley suffered through injuries, including a concussion and a torn ACL, playing in only 17 career games, with 56 receptions for 614 yards and three touchdowns.

The Bengals had bolstered their WR depth in the off-season, acquiring Armon Binns and Brandon Tate behind 1st-string A.J. Green. The team did not cite a specific reason for releasing the former Longhorns star.

Weber was a first-year player from Arizona State, who was with the Bengals in the 2011 preseason and was re-signed for 2012 on Jan. 6, but it is clear the Bengals are happy with kicker Mike Nugent's foot for this season yet again.
