CINCINNATI - Bengals cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick will miss the start of training camp with a leg injury that he confirmed on Twitter.
The first-round pick will be examined when the players report on Thursday for the start of training camp. The team hasn't confirmed the injury.
CBS Sports first reported that Kirkpatrick could miss much of training camp with the injury. Kirkpatrick later tweeted: "I'm sorry about my injury and im going to try my best to get back and help the team to get to a Super Bowl and once again I'm sorry."
Kirkpatrick was hoping to win a starting spot across from cornerback Leon Hall, who is returning from a torn Achilles tendon.
Hall is expected to be ready for the start of camp and could participate in the first workout on Friday.
Also Wednesday, the Bengals signed defensive tackle Brandon Thompson of Clemson, a third-round pick. The signing leaves all 10 Bengals draft picks under contract before the start of camp.
