DAYTON, Ohio -- Kevin Dillard scored 17 points and Josh Benson had 16 to lead Dayton to a 70-59 win over Xavier on Saturday.
Dyshawn Pierre and Matt Derenbecker each finished with 10 points for the Flyers (14-11, 4-7 Atlantic 10 Conference), who snapped a two-game losing streak.
Xavier kept the game close midway through the second half, trimming the deficit to 42-39 when Erik Stenger scored on a slam dunk with 11:42 left. But the Musketeers (14-10, 7-4) were unable to pull closer, as Dayton went on a 9-0 run that was capped by Benson's jumper with 9:23 remaining.
The Flyers took their largest lead of the game at 70-56 with 1:23 left on two free throws by Benson, who went 6 of 9 from the floor.
Semaj Christon led Xavier with 17 points but had a game-high five turnovers. Isaiah Stenger scored 12 points and Travis Taylor added 10 points.
