CINCINNATI - A former University of Kentucky basketball player is facing charges for allegedly having sexual contact with an underage girl.

Michael Porter, 25, was arrested early Tuesday morning and charged with sex abuse and sodomy, according to WLEX in Lexington.

The former Wildcat is accused of having sexual contact with the minor on several occasions when the alleged victim was 14 and 15 years old.

Porter met the girl while serving as a group leader during a church function, according to court documents.

He is facing six charges of sodomy in the third degree and two charges of sexual abuse in the first degree, all Class D felonies. He was booked into the Fayette County Detention Center.

His bail was set at $22,000 and he was scheduled to appear in court Tuesday afternoon.
