OXFORD, Ohio - A local college is receiving national attention for its excellence.
Miami University in Oxford is included in Fiske Guide To Colleges 2013 list of “Best & Most Interesting Colleges and Universities” in the U.S.
The guide features 300 schools from more than 2,200 four-year colleges and universities in the U.S. Miami University has appeared in the guide for more than 20 years.
Miami’s business program is among 36 public universities highlighted for strength. Its architecture major is among 20 such programs at public universities cited for “unusual strength.” Also, among 25 programs both public and private, its music program was recognized for its strength.
The university's 17 th President, Dr. Phillip Raymond Shriver once said, “Not all roads lead to Oxford. To get here, you have to want to get here; but once you're here you never want to leave."
This may not be true for everyone, but Fiske says Miami is “gaining national recognition as an excellent state university that has the true look and feel of a private, with a picture-perfect campus and high-caliber student body.”
The guide also cites Miami’s high study abroad rate, opportunities for undergraduate research and leadership, and competitive athletics.
Colleges featured in the Fiske Guide to Colleges 2013 were selected with several broad principles in mind, beginning with academic quality.
