CINCINNATI - Following an impressive couple of series, Reds center fielder Drew Stubbs on Monday was named a co-winner of the National League Player of the Week for the period of July 23-29.

Stubbs shares the honor with Milwaukee Brewers center fielder Carlos Gomez.

Stubbs, who helped the Reds to a 6-0 record the past week, hit .370 (10 for 27) and tied Gomez for the N.L. lead in RBI (10) and stolen bases (3). The Texas native hit a go-ahead 2-run homerun off former Reds closer Francisco Cordero in the 9th inning in Houston on Tuesday. The following night he went 2-for-5 with two doubles, two runs scored and three RBI as the Reds completed the sweep.

He hit his 12th home run of the season on Sunday as the Reds beat the Rockies to complete another sweep and earn the Reds their 10th straight victory. Stubbs also collected his team-leading 21st stolen base of 2012.

Many feel Stubbs is one of the key components to the Reds' success the rest of the season. Will he play like the Drew Stubbs who struggled the first part of this season? Or will he continue his hot streak and finally become the player so many have wished he would?

Either way, the Reds know the whole team has to continue to play at a high level with the Pittsburgh Pirates close behind in second place.
