CINCINNATI - The Cincinnati Reds will be taking on the San Francisco Giants in the National League Divisional Series round of the 2012 MLB playoffs.

The Reds got stuck with the second overall seed in the National League after the Washington Nationals clinched the No. 1 overall seed and best record in the NL by beating the Philadelphia Phillies 5-1 in their last game of the regular season Wednesday afternoon. Even if the Reds beat the Cardinals Wednesday night to tie for the best record in the NL, they lose a tiebreaker to Washington because of the Nationals matchup advantage over the Reds in the regular season.

The Reds will travel to San Fran to play the Giants beginning Saturday, Oct. 6 and again on Sunday, Oct. 7. The Saturday game will start at 9:37 p.m.(EDT). Sunday's game time has not been released. The two teams will then come back to Cincinnati for the three remaining games that are necessary in a best of five series, beginning Tuesday, Oct. 9 through Thursday, Oct. 11. The times of those games have also not been released.

The Giants are a good match for the Reds, with similar pitching talent, but a less pungent offense.
