LEBANON, Ohio - If you can't get enough of the Reds at the ballpark, how about at a... corn maze?
The Irons Fruit Farm, located at 1640 Stubbs Mill Road in Lebanon, will debut a Reds-themed corn maze Saturday, Sept. 1 and will be open all weekend, including Labor Day, and staying open on weekends through October.
This will be the 13th year Bill Irons, owner of the farm, has cut a maze into his maize. His first cut was of an apple and eventually progressed to one of the Cincinnati Bengals. Initially, Irons stepped it off and used flags to mark off the field before cutting. Last season and this year, he used a global positioning satellite for the 12-acre patch of corn featuring Mr. Redlegs, the Reds wishbone "C" and other Reds designs.
The Irons family will donate $1 to the Reds Community Fund for each paying customer at the corn maze. Prices for attendance are $7 for ages 12 and up, $5 for ages 5-11 and children four years of age and under are free.
Tours start on Saturdays at 10 a.m. and the last tour leaves at 5 p.m. On Sundays (and Labor Day), the first tour is at 11 a.m. and the last tour leaves at 5 p.m.
"I love people coming out here and doing the farm experience," said Irons. "I'm just country and that's just what I love."
