CINCINNATI -- The Reds and a Triple-A team in Louisville announced Thursday that they have signed a two-year extension to their affiliation agreement. The agreement will now run through 2016.
The previous agreement between the Reds and the Louisville Bats was set to expire after the 2014 season, according to MLB.com .
The Bats became the Reds' top farm club in 2000, the same season Louisville Slugger Field opened. The Bats celebrated their 30th year in Louisville last season.
According to the article on MLB.com, current Reds players Joey Votto, Jay Bruce, Homer Bailey, Aroldis Chapman and Todd Frazier have all played for the Louisville organization.
The report from Major League Baseball indicated that the agreement was reached while the Reds stopped at Louisville Slugger Field for their annual winter caravan.
