GOODYEAR, Ariz. - The Cincinnati Reds avoided arbitration hearings for Homer Bailey, signing the starting pitcher to a one-year, $5.35 million deal, 9 On Your Side John Popovich reports.
Bailey had asked for $5.8 million and the Reds reportedly offered $4.75 million.
The Reds have not had an arbitration hearing with a player since 2004.
Bailey had 33 starts in 2012 and ended the season with a 13-10 record and an overall 3.68 ERA.
