CINCINNATI - Catcher Devin Mesoraco will begin serving his suspension Tuesday night after bumping an umpire on July 30.
Mesoraco bumped umpire Chad Fairchild when they got into it over a strike call.
But Mesoraco’s appeal of the suspension did knock off one game from the original three-game suspension, and he’ll only sit out two games on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Louisville (AAA) catcher Dioner Navarro has been called up to fill the catcher void Mesoraco’s suspension creates.
The Reds announced Tuesday that Logan Ondrusek was sent down to play in Louisville to swap with Navarro's call-up, since suspensions necessitate a team to play shorthanded.
The Reds look to bounce back from a rough 12-5 Monday loss against the Phillies in Philadelphia at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday.
