CHICAGO - Cincinnati Reds manager Dusty Baker will spend one more day in a Chicago hospital before returning to Cincinnati.

Reds general manager Walt Jocketty visited Baker in hospital Thursday morning. Jocketty said Baker is feeling good but doctors want to monitor his progress for one more day before releasing him.

Reds bench coach Chris Speier will serve as acting manager for the second straight game.

Baker was held over Wednesday night because of an irregular heartbeat.

Baker consulted with members of the Cubs medical staff Wednesday afternoon at Wrigley Field.  He was then taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where it was announced that he would undergo X-rays to rule out pneumonia.

Reds trainer Paul Lessard said there was no evidence of pneumonia, but there was an irregular heartbeat, a condition that Baker has experienced in the past.

The Reds are scheduled to return home after their 2:20 p.m. game with the Chicago Cubs to host the Los Angeles Dodgers in a weekend 3-game series at Great American Ball Park.
