SPARTA, KY - The conditions will change as the day changes, the weather changes and the track changes, but times were fast in early practice sessions for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series at the Kentucky Speedway.

Both Brad Keselowski and Austin Dillon topped 174 mph while five different cars topped 172 mph, and 16 cars were better than 170 mph.

42 cars took part in the opening practice.

While Keselowski ran fast, he also was involved in the only mishap of the practice. His car brushed the wall and had to exit to the garage.

Qualifying for Saturday's Quaker State 400 takes place at 5p.m. Friday. The Feed the Children 300 Nationwide race begins at 7:30p.m. Friday.
