Two local schools hope to clean up in national contest by winning money for classroom technology

CINCINNATI - With about two days left, two local schools are inching up the rankings in the Clorox "Power A Bright Future" contest.

Pleasant Ridge Montessori and Mother of Mercy High School are at #25 and #17 respectively in the vote count, among more than 1,500 schools around the country.

The stakes are high: the winning school could get $25,000 or $50,000 for classroom technology. 

 

According to the  Power A Bright Future website  the contest awards seven grants:

"...4 based on votes and 3 based on merit. The nomination with the most votes overall will receive a $50,000 grant. The nominations with the most votes in each category will each receive a $25,000 grant. Clorox will then review all nominations and pick one from each category based on merit to award a $25,000 grant in each category."

There are nine other Cincinnati schools in the contest, although none as high in the vote count. Here's the full list (in order of vote count):

  1. Mother of Mercy High School
  2. Pleasant Ridge Montessori
  3. Seton High School
  4. North Avondale Montessori
  5. St. Teresa of Avila
  6. Academy of World Languages
  7. North College Hill Elementary School 
  8. Hyde Park School
  9. Winton Woods Elementary
  10. The Children's Home of Cincinnati High School for Students with Autism Spectrum Disorder
  11. Northwest High School
