CINCINNATI - A Switzerland County Sheriff's deputy was transported by a medical helicopter to a local hospital after he was injured during an altercation with an inmate trying to escape.

Deputy Eddie McClellan is scheduled to under go surgery to repair a broken leg he received while attempting to detain a female prisoner trying to flee after a court hearing.

Officials say the incident happened Friday afternoon. McClellan was taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center where he will be undergoing the surgery.

The inmate was later identified as Tracey Inman. She is charged with escape and battery and currently being held on a $20,000 bond.
