CINCINNATI - The Sentinel Police Association, an organization that advocates within the Cincinnati Police Department for officers of color, is offering support for Chief James Craig in his dispute with the Ohio Police Officers Training Commission.

The Sentinels say having Craig take the certification exam for entry level officers is unnecessary given the chief's 35 years of service.

The Sentinels say the exam had no merit before 1989. They say no previous Cincinnati chiefs took it, and all those after 1989 were grandfathered in.
