AKRON, Ohio (AP) - Akron police say they were involved in a car chase that ended with an SUV crashing into a church.

WEWS-TV reports that it happened at about 3 a.m. Monday. It started when officers tried to stop a stolen SUV that took off and reached speeds of more than 80 mph.

The driver eventually lost control, driving up the front steps of Hill's Temple church. The vehicle went into the air and hit the side of the church, damaging a large section of the brick wall.

Two teens in the SUV ran after the wreck but were apprehended. They were taken to hospitals for treatment. One of the teens was a reported missing person.
