MEDINA COUNTY, Ohio - A pregnant pony found near Cleveland with a chain embedded into its neck has died, Ohio animal officials said.

The pony, named Charity, was discovered by a humane officer, Jen Steer with 9 On Your Side sister station WEWS reported.

Stephanie Moore with the Medina County SPCA said Charity died Tuesday after being transferred to the veterinarian hospital at Ohio State University. While in Columbus, techs figured out she was also pregnant.

The foal, nearly full term and in the birth canal, also died, Moore said.

A day later, a puppy with no food or water was found hiding under a truck cap. The dog also had a harness embedded into its chest.

According to Moore, officials do know who owned the animals, but charges have not been filed.

The puppy is being adopted by a vet that took care of her and is doing fine.
